Arthur is heading for the Tsugaru Kaikyo passage, the gate way to the Pacific. Calm waters and clear skies accompanied us all day. The Thumb has free roam of the ship...its going to take a few days to get to grips with it all. Arthur is enormous! the 25 crew occupy a 12 story steel building sitting just off centre. Senior staff are mostly Danish, the rest coming from India or the Philipines with 1 guy from the Ukraine. Theres a central lift with an inside and outside stairway hugging either side of the building. The Thumb is on the 5th floor, my digs are huge...I expected just a bunk bed! With a big office/living room space, a spacious double en suite bedroom with all mod cons, The Thumb is more than comfortable. I joined the Captain and Chief Mate for Breakfast- 7:30am. Lunch- 12pm and Dinner- 5pm. In between I tentatively probed the main living quarters, entertainment and dining areas... The Thumb feels a bit off road at the moment, I didn't want to touch anything incase something blew up or an alarm went off. Joined the Captain and chief Engineer for coffee on the bridge around 7pm. Its great up there...sitting all high and mighty above this massive ship, all peaceful and quiet with a fantastic panoramic view. Lights out at 2am... I was a bit too excited to sleep.
The Thumb rocking his office!
