Arthur woke up to the deafening sound of the fire alarm, all crew speedily mustered to the Main engineering room on 'A' deck, split into 2 parties and made for the bright orange tear-drop shaped Lifeboats. The Thumb was there sticking the camera up some poor fellas backside because It couldn't see where It was going, the eyes were peeled on the camera as I stumbled about inside trying to capture the drill.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm not here, ignore me please"
It was all quite a thrill.
Went for a stroll up to the Bow after lunch, Arthur was pushing through a pea soup. Standing alone up at the very tip with the head faced forward it felt like I was the only one riding this ghost ship, with the calm deep blue below and the faint sound of the waves whisping by, Arthur was carving through an ethereal cloud of mist, it all felt very otherworldly. It is Jims funeral today… I thought I had shed all the tears and appreciated his passing, it was the thought of old pal Fairley driving my mam up to Leicester that got me going, all the people Jim touched making there way from all corners to see him laid beside his Mam and Dad. EEEEEEEEEEH…. so so sad. The little sod got me welling up again. He was and will remain to be a much loved soul by so many people. All thoughts on Jim and those who shared his love today.
Arthur is making his way up to Attu island, the mist hung about all day and the sea remained calm.
