As we’re hitting the half way point of the journey, it’s time for cameraman Simon to take his leave after five weeks’ sterling effort.
Just got to take this chance to thank him so much for sticking with The Thumb thus far (and your gracious wife Miwa for letting you come at all!).
Also to welcome cameraman numero duo Merrick, who I’ll be hooking up with in Accra, Ghana, as soon as the fates allow.
Got to get there first, mind. As the crow flies, it’s a shade under 1,200km, which means much, much longer by road.
The Thumb’s got a ride sorted to the old trade city of Bobo-Dioulasso across the border in Burkina Faso, then on to its capital Ouagadougou.
With the first Group C game in less than a week, fast mileage is the name of the game...
