No rest for the wicked here...
Woke up a little rough, not a good idea when I should be showing Caroline the ropes on her first day. A huge thank you to Darek for harbouring and championing the Project, Caroline delivered a cracking account on Dareks radio show...the man knows his tunes, I advise all to tune into http://kexp.org/
Out at sea Captain Henrik Jensen called ahead to the ship Chandler in Seattle to arrange a lift south. After a cracking breakfast with family Mazzone, Bill and Sheryl rocked up to carry the Thumb to Portland. 10,000 peeps were taking part in a naked bike ride there this evening. Wish we could hang around but No!
We only had time to pop in on pals of Thumb- Aaron and Meagen for a quick cuppa before we had to hit the road again. That clock ticking down for the opening of the World Cup is becoming deafening.
The thumb was last aloft in the U.S.A 18 years ago, 'Lionel The sound' got the Thumb back on the road stateside heading down Route 55. Around 6pm 'Grant the Stone wall wheeler' saved us from a desolate slip road and dropped us off at rest area 40km on. A lovely all American Family capped the day off in style as we jumped in the back of there open top jeep...it was a bit blustery back there but the sunset and ride was a classic ending to a cracking day on the road. Meatloaf for dinner and a Best Western for kip...the head was out before the pillow was hit.
