I slept in till 11am... now my next target is Bangkok, Thailand. England play Sweden on Saturday at 1:45 in the morning their, my dear old friend Adam has been based in Bangkok for 6 years... myself, Adam and the Leicester boys enjoyed many, many nights on the whiskey and ale, it has been far too long since I have seen him. I am going hell for leather to get their.
I hit the road for the Thai border, it seems more relaxed here, I get a lift off 2 fella's Piper and Joe, with a stop off at Ipoh for a few hours to drop off a bit of Cargo, we then head onto Su ngai Kolok (Malaysia/Thai border) to drop off the rest of the Fruit and me. It is around 10pm...I ask peeps in the queue if their going north to Bangkok... no such luck but I did get a lift off a lovely young Thai family who had been to pick their son up, around 16 years old and dressed in army gear, the little girl getting carried by her mother couldn't stop staring at the white man... of coarse I made her laugh to get in with Daddy, showed him where I was going and he was only to happy to help. They didn't let me take a photo or film them which is a shame because they were great... but dropped me a good chunk of the way at Hat Yai. They and everyone else I encountered in Malaysia didn't really understand what hitching is... it became obvious they thought I was in trouble and just wanted to help. A lot got lost in translation amidst the smiles, drawings and nods and I got dropped off at the Police Station at 3 in the morn in a massive foreign City, I was knackered and could not get my story across to the Police and so get dropped off at a bus station. Its shutters were open waiting for expected buses... I needed somewhere to sleep so told them I would get the 11am bus to Crabi so I could put my head down in the back of their shop...I slept soundly.
